What is the difference between an inspection and a re-inspection?
During an inspection, a full installation is checked by a Recognised Expert for Supervision and Control (EDTC). Any remarks are recorded and must be addressed within a legal timeframe. Sometimes, a re-inspection can be scheduled earlier to specifically check if the remarks have been resolved. In this article, we discuss the process of both inspections and re-inspections.
Inspection
What does an inspection involve?
During an inspection, an EDTC checks the entire installation to verify whether it meets legal standards and safety requirements.
Any remarks or defects are noted in an inspection report.
Legal frequency
Every installation has a legally prescribed inspection frequency.
Both the inspector and the customer are required to respect these deadlines to remain compliant.
Re-inspection
What is a re-inspection?
A re-inspection is carried out to verify whether the previously recorded remarks in the inspection report have been resolved.
Unlike a regular inspection, only the follow-up of the remarks is checked during a re-inspection.
Early re-inspection
A re-inspection can often be scheduled earlier than the legal deadline, depending on when the issues have been resolved.
This allows the customer to become compliant more quickly.
