In addition to well-known installations, there are other assets that must be inspected annually. These inspections ensure that the equipment remains safe to use. In this article, we explain which assets require annual inspection and who is authorised to carry out these checks.
Who can perform the inspection?
The annual inspection of the assets listed below can be carried out by:
- The maintenance company
- An internal competent person
- An Accredited Expert for Supervision and Control (EDTC)
Assets requiring annual inspection
Vertical gates
This applies to both indoor and outdoor gates.
Playground equipment
Only applicable if the playground equipment is accessible to third parties, such as at public locations or schools.
Ladders
Applies to every type of ladder, regardless of material or use.
Warehouse racking (stacking racks)
Must be inspected annually to ensure the safety of the storage structure.
Scaffolding and platforms
Includes both permanent and temporary structures, such as construction scaffolding.
